Celebration Overview

The annual Guyana Independence Celebration in New York City will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The celebration includes the Diamond Jubilee Independence Parade, flag raising and awards ceremony, and the Unity Concert.

Parade: Starts at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Church & Utica Avenue, Brooklyn, and proceeds through Brooklyn to the concert venue.

Vending at concert venue: Vending is permitted for food and arts & craft. There is a vending fee. Food vendors must acquire the requisite food handlers’ permit from the New York City Department of Health. Arts and craft vendors must obtain a license from the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs. Call 311 for assistance with permits.

Vendor Requirements

  1. Before registering, purchase 1-day general liability insurance from a reputable company in keeping with NYS and NYC laws. Present proof of insurance for the event date and time to receive your registration letter.
  2. Vendors must abide by all Federal, State, and City laws and all conditions under which their permit is issued. Violations may result in permit revocation without refund.
  3. After registering online or in person, obtain the required NYC permit(s) before the Committee issues your event vending permit.
  4. Food vendors must obtain a food handler’s permit from the NYC Department of Health.
  5. Arts & craft vendors must obtain a permit from the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs and must have a Tax ID number before applying.
  6. Once NYC permit(s) are obtained, present them to uplift the Committee’s Event Vending Permit. Display both permits conspicuously at the front of your booth for inspection.
  7. Vendors may not sell beverages (including water), alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana, or any illegal substance, item, or contraband.
  8. Vendors are subject to security search and inspection upon entry and at any time during the event.
  9. No weapons or disposable glass bottles are allowed.
  10. Photo ID is required for registration and admittance to the celebration premises.
  11. Vendors may have a maximum of three helpers. Submit helpers’ names, addresses, and photo ID at registration or before the event.
  12. Vendors must obtain one-day liability insurance naming the Guyana Independence Celebration Committee New York as additional insured. A vending fee applies and is payable by the deadline set by the vendor coordinator.

Vendors found in breach of these requirements may be ejected from the event without a refund.
