Press Release
GUYANA INDEPENDENCE COMMITTEE NEW YORK ANNOUNCES FINAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR PARADE & UNITY CONCERT IN BROOKLYN ON SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 2026. PARADE STARTS AT CHURCH & UTICA AVENUES IN BROOKLYN
The nonpartisan, not for profit organization — Guyana Independence Celebration Committee New York — on Monday announced final plans for Guyana’s 60th Independence (Diamond Jubilee) celebration Parade and Unity Concert scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York. Guyana gained independence from Great Britain in 1966.
The starting point for the parade is Church & Utica Avenues, Brooklyn. It will proceed east on Church Ave, right on Linden Blvd, right on Rockaway Avenue, slight left into Avenue D, right into East 101st Street, to 10101 Foster Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11236, in Canarsie, Brooklyn — the venue for the after Parade Unity Concert.
The concert will begin at 3:00 p.m. The concert venue address is 10101 Foster Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11236, corner of East 101st Street. This is a bigger and better concert venue in Canarsie.
Moving forward, the Committee hopes to host the Independence concert at this location each year as the Guyanese community has requested.
Due to the high rental cost for this venue, the concert entry price will be $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
Tickets will be on sale at:
- Pam’s Bakery, 4620 Church Ave, Brooklyn
- German’s Restaurant, 410 Utica Ave, Brooklyn
- Caribbean Vision Center, 1012 Flatbush Ave and Regent St, Brooklyn
- Eventbrite
