Guyana’s 57st Independence Anniversary Celebration Committee (New York)

Dear Fellow Guyanese and Friends of Guyana:
Our nation will celebrate 50 years of Independence on May 26, 2016. This historic milestone will be celebrated in New York City with a spectacular Guyana Jubilee of Week Celebration from Saturday, June 4 – Sunday June 12, 2016. Guyanese everywhere are experiencing a rapture of national pride. Our committee’s mission is to inform, inspire and mobilize Guyanese all over the US for this once in a life time celebration.
President David Granger, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, several ministers of the government of Guyana, Guyanese American Actress, CCH Pounder, former leader of the British House of Lords, Baroness Valerie Amos and several other Guyanese celebrities; including singers athletes and sports personalities, will travel to New York for our celebration. The celebration events calendar is attached.
All of us have a duty to ensure that the message of this celebration reaches to every Guyanese. We therefore invite you to help spread the word about “Guyana Jubilee Celebration NYC” from June 4 – 12, 2016. Pass the word on to every Guyanese you know and meet. Use your email and social media contacts. Inform your church members, coworkers, family and friends.
This is a time to demonstrate national pride and unity. This is a time to celebrate our rich heritage and uniqueness as a people. This is a time for Guyanese everywhere to be united, and record this illustrious moment in harmony as one people. Now is the time to put Guyana first. Now is the time to foster national cohesion, fortify our Guyanese identity and enhance our influence as a people. Now is the time to “Reflect our Journey – forge unity and boldly embrace modernity.” This we must do for posterity!
